April 5th - Raid the Closet Sunday

In preparation for the coming 30 Hour Help Drive we held Raid the Closet Sunday. All of the youth were challenged to look through their closets and drawers and pull out clothes that they havn't worn in 18+ months to donate to Restore Hope here in Tulsa. Restore Hope is a place that helps families get back on their feet in tough times through food, clothes, and financial help. It went awesome, we filled up the stairs to the stage with bags of clothes. Our group may not be the largest, but the heart here is HUGE!

April 25th-26th - 30 Hour Help Drive

This was a cool event. Each youth found 1-3 people/families to sponsor them for $30 to fast for 30 hours (11am Sat. - 5pm Sun). Then to end the fast, we threw the youth a pot luck.
During that 30 hours the youth went door-to-door in the surrounding neighborhoods and dropped off paper bags (curtosy (sp) of Reasors) with fliers attached at each house. We would knock on doors, introduce our cause, and ask to pray with people. If no one was home we'd leave a flier and paper back on the door knob. The fliers said that we'd return the following day and collect the bags. This gave people an overnight to get/buy stuff to donate. Then to top it all off, we had the President of Restore Hope, John Dillingham, come and speak on the history and impact of their ministry.
We raised over $400 dollars and more than 720 lbs of canned goods. AHYEAH!!! O' and we had a ton of fun too!
